Artist Statement & Biography

Artist Statement


Elizabeth is a contemporary painter working primarily in oils. Her paintings are colorful with expressive brush strokes that encapsulate the simplicity of the objects in her still life paintings and plein-air paintings of the beautiful South Jersey landscapes.

Some of Elizabeth's favorite influences are: Richard Diebenkorn, Edgar Payne,  Cézanne, Wolf Kahn, William Merit Chase, Monet, Manet and John Singer Sargent.




Elizabeth has lived most of her life in Mauricetown, New Jersey. As a child, her mother signed her up for the summer art classes at the Barn Studio of Art in Millville, New Jersey. Elizabeth continued her art studies under the tutelage of Pat Witt who nurtured her love for art and nature at the Barn until 1981 at which time she attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated with a BA in Fashion Illustration in 1985.

Elizabeth has a love for both the Fine Arts and Graphic Design. After graduating from Moore she studied Computer Illustration at Rutgers University Camden Campus in Camden, New Jersey and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she enrolled in the continuing education classes for oil painting. Most recently, Liz graduated with an Academic Certificate in Desk Top Publishing/Computer Graphics in 2007 from Cumberland County College, Vineland, New Jersey.
